Pyrolube Glass Mould Release: 25MG, 10G And Nano 20

Pressing glass tableware means molten glass meeting a hot steel mould and plunger, cycle after cycle. The mould has to release every time without marking the ware. Pyroflux India developed a three-part hexagonal boron nitride system for exactly this duty. Pyrolube 25MG is a durable base coat applied when the mould is changed; Pyrolube 10G is a light top-up swabbed or sprayed during production to keep the mould running between changes; and Pyrolube Nano 20 is a nano-h-BN dispersion for borosilicate moulds where a conventional BN film would turn transparent ware matte. All three are water-based, leave no carbon on the ware, and are made in Noida; application procedures are supplied with the data sheets.

What Each One Does

Pyrolube glass mould release system
GradeRoleWhen it is appliedWare
Pyrolube 25MGDurable h-BN base coat that bonds to the mould steelAt mould change, on a cleaned, preheated mould; cured as the mould comes up to temperatureOpal and borosilicate
Pyrolube 10GLight h-BN top-up that renews release without build-upDuring production, swabbed or sprayed at the interval the line needsOpal and borosilicate
Pyrolube Nano 20Nano-h-BN dispersion that releases without dulling the surfaceOn cleaned, preheated moulds, cured to working temperature, then lightly buffedTransparent borosilicate

The base coat plus top-up pattern replaces the single white spray most glass plants use today, which has to be reapplied every few hours. The base coat does the bonding; the top-up keeps the surface fresh without building a thick, flaking layer.

Application

Nano 20 On Borosilicate Moulds, Step By Step

  1. Clean the mould and plunger thoroughly and preheat as the data sheet directs.
  2. Dilute Pyrolube Nano 20 with clean water as directed and spray a thin, even coat.
  3. Cure by bringing the mould up to its working temperature.
  4. Buff the surface lightly with a microfibre cloth before the first pressing.
  5. Top up during production with Pyrolube 10G at the interval your line needs; recoat with Nano 20 at mould change.
A standard-particle BN film gives a matte surface on borosilicate ware; the nano grade exists so that transparent ware stays transparent. Opal ware is not affected and runs on 25MG plus 10G.
Why boron nitride

Graphite Marks Glass; Boron Nitride Does Not

Molten glass does not wet hexagonal boron nitride, the film is white and carbon-free, and it keeps lubricating at mould temperature without burning away. Graphite-based swabbing compounds release well but smoke, mark the ware and need constant reapplication. A bonded BN base coat with light top-ups gives longer intervals between mould changes and cleaner ware.

Pyroflux formulates the system to the glass and the mould: opal or borosilicate, mould and plunger temperatures, swab or automatic spray, and the interval you want between reapplications. Send those four facts and we will send a trial set with the application procedure.

Frequently asked

Common Questions

Does the coating affect the surface of the ware?

On opal ware, no. On transparent borosilicate a conventional BN film produces a matte surface, which is why Pyrolube Nano 20 exists: its nano-scale particles release without dulling the glass.

Can we swab during production instead of spraying?

Yes. Pyrolube 10G is designed for swabbing or spraying during production; many lines prefer the swab because nothing changes on the machine.

How long does the base coat last?

Until the mould is changed, in normal running, with 10G top-ups keeping release fresh. The exact interval depends on the glass, the ware and the mould finish, and is set during the trial.

What mould steels does it suit?

It bonds to the steels normally used for glass press moulds. Tell us the grade and finish (sand-blasted, polished) and we confirm.
